In 1994, the core of the Cyberitas team developed the first large-scale consumer hotel site on the Internet, then called TravelWeb.com. Over the next two years, the team helped some 30,000 hotels create their first appearances on the Web. Expanding to real estate in 1996, Cyberitas took over the Internet site for ERA Realty, www.ERA.com, which we continue to support to this day.
A couple years later, Cyberitas took over the Intranet site for ERA, which is the key network of tools connecting the local; brokers and agents with the parent company. About the same time, Coldwell Banker Commercial became a client, and Cyberitas today supports both CBC's public Internet and private Intranet sites.
Continuing our expansion in the real estate sector of eCommerce, in 2007 Cyberitas was selected to rebuild the public Internet site for Century 21, one of the largest real estate companies in the world. Today Cyberitas is responsible for both the C21 public Internet and private Intranet sites.
Although the original TravelWeb.com site no longer exists, Cyberitas continues to support the travel sector through involvement with several hospitality companies, including Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, and destinations such as The Bahamas.
Cyberitas got involved with the Bahamas when the Ministry of Tourism approached Cyberitas with an emergency project. The web site hosting provider then supporting www.Bahamas.com gave the Ministry only 30 days' notice to find a new provider, since they were going out of business. Cyberitas analyzed their custom website software, content and database and successfully moved everything to the Cyberitas hosting facility well before the deadline. Beyond that, the system documentation was nearly non-existent, portions of the delivered software did not function properly and the software developers were no longer with the previous provider. Despite what appeared to be potential disaster, Cyberitas engineers and developers successfully corrected the problems and fully deployed the relocated site prior to the deadline.Despite changes in governments, advertising agencies and development partners, Cyberitas has continued to support not only the main www.Bahamas.com site, but also several other Bahamas websites. This truly has been an International effort which Cyberitas has managed by keeping the same team of people involved with developers, operations and customer service so that the Ministry has a team they are familiar with and can count on year after year.
